Genealogy Podcast Roundup – Week of July 26, 2011

iPod Ready for some more genealogy podcast episodes to listen to? This week’s Genealogy Podcast Roundup includes a “records roundup”, videos for genealogists to watch, information about how to use records from WWII, advice for family reunions, and more.

Genealogy Gems released episode 114 on July 21, 2011. This episode is called: “Online Security, Records Roundup, Genealogy Blogging”. The hosts tell you about a whole bunch of resources that genealogists will want to use.

African Roots Podcast released episode 120 on July 22, 2011. In this episode, host Angela Walton-Raji talks about the 12 million new records that have been added to FamilySearch, a YouTube channel for Clarendon County, a seminar in Arkansas, a video about DNA and genealogy, and more!

The National Archives released an episode of their podcast on July 22, 2011. This one is called: “Nineteenth century soldiers: getting the most from online resources”. William Spencer, the National Archive’s principal military specialist, talks about the intricacies of soldier’s service records online, and how to use them.

Geneabloggers released an episode on July 22, 2011. It is called: “Until We Meet Again! – Family Reunions and Genealogy”. Special guests include Edith Wagner, founder and publisher of Reunions magazine, Marilyn Stewart, (“Aunt Mo”), who runs the Family Reunion Helper website, and Lorine McGinnis Schulze, from Olive Tree Genealogy. They have all kinds of advice about family reunions for you.

Geni Podcast has two episodes for you to check out this week. One was released on July 22, 2011, and is called “Interview with Dick Eastman”. This episode has an interview with Dick Eastman, the man behind Eastman’s Online Genealogy Newsletter.

Another episode was released on July 25, 2011, and is called: “Genealogy & Family Reunions”. This episode contains a lot of advice about how to organize a family reunion, and tips about what activities to have at the reunion itself.

Kaleo Church released an episode of its podcast on June 6, 2011. This episode is called “Noah’s Family Tree”. This could be interesting for genealogists who are Christian to listen to. It also may catch the attention of genealogists who find it fun to play around with making family trees for people who appear in the bible.

Victory Church did a series of podcast episodes in July of 2011 that each focus on the family tree of someone who appears in the bible, (and who appears in the family tree of Jesus).

“Family Tree Part 1” looks at the family tree of Adam. Part 2 focuses on Abraham. Part 3 is on Jacob. Part 4 is about Rahab, and Part 5 is about David. Again, this series will be interesting for genealogists who either are Christian, or who enjoy exploring the family trees of people who appear in the bible.
