Gordon Ramsay, the hot-tempered Scottish chef and star of Fox’s “Hell’s Kitchen” and “Kitchen Nightmares” has something to smile about these days (if he could take a break from screaming at the people around him).
The celebrity chef just opened a new restaurant, Gordon Ramsay at The London West Hollywood, this week. To celebrate Ramsay invited some of his famous friends to indulge on his signature dishes. By all accounts the event was as star-studded as a big Hollywood movie premiere with celebrity guests including “Will and & Grace” co-star Eric McCormack, “Survivor” host Jeff Probst, Kim Kardashian and soccer star David Beckman. (Ramsay, a former professional soccer player himself, said he and the Los Angeles Galaxy player “go back a long way.”)
As for why Ramsay decide to set up shop in California instead of culinary rich New York or restaurant-friendly Las Vegas, the chef explains, “It’s less aggressive than New York and I don’t want to play my card in Las Vegas. It’s materialistic. Here, it’s proper. I’m very happy to be here. Everything is in abundance in California.”
Ramsay’s new eatery is located at The London West Hollywood hotel just off the Sunset Strip. The TV chef says the restaurant took two long years to design and get open. Now that it is ready for diners Ramsay says he is thrilled.
According to the chef, the space features several private dining rooms, wood floors and gold- and pastel-accented furniture. As for the restaurant’s menu, the fiery chef said it draws from seasonal ingredients.
Ramsay also revealed a surprise about who will be designing some of the dishes that will be served at his new eatery. According to the chef-owner, the winner of the fourth season of “Hell’s Kitchen” will be offered a job as senior sous-chef at Gordon Ramsay at The London West Hollywood and be given a $250,000 salary.
You can find out who the lucky culinary champ is during the show’s season finale, which is scheduled to air July 8th.
