Great Deals on Summer Reading

books The long, idle, hours of Summer vacation provide ample time to catch up on your reading. Have you already burned through that stack of books that you had been meaning to read whenever you managed to find the time? Does the idea of shopping for books that are on sale appeal to you? Now is the time to take advantage of deals on Summer reading.

Powell’s Books is having a Summer Sale that lets you save 30% off the regular price of a selection of good books that are “sure bets”. This deal will only last for a limited time, but I haven’t been able to find exactly when it is going to end.

There are twenty different titles that are included in this sale. The staff at Powell’s Books would like to especially point out “A Visit from the Goon Squad”, by Jennifer Egan, “The Imperfectionists” by Tom Rachman, and “Super Sad True Love Story” by Gary Shteyngart, (to point out just a few of the staff picks).

Barnes & Noble has a deal on Kids books. Buy one Kids or Teens Book, (from a selection), and Get One for 50% the original price. This deal will last until July 18, 2011. There is also another sale going on that gives you 40% off Kid’s Summer books and toys. There are picture books and sand toys included in this sale.

While you are visiting your local Barnes & Noble store, don’t forget to check out the Summer Clearance Sale. Some books in the sale are priced at just $1.99 right now.

Borders is having a Buy 1, Get 1 50% off the list price sale on all paperback books right now (except for used books). To take advantage of this sale, you need to use the Promo Code BOGO at the checkout. I am certain that this deal is being offered through their website, but am uncertain if it will also be something you can find offered in an actual Borders store.

Surprisingly, Walmart has a sale on books that is going on right now, too. They have a list of the top 200 books. You can save up to 45% off the original price of any of the books that are on that list. There is a very wide range of subjects and categories of books to choose from. There is also a huge selection of books that are priced at just $5.00.
