If you are like me, one of the first things you will do when you learn you are pregnant is to start reading. You want to learn all you can to have a healthy pregnancy and give your baby the best possible start in life. There are so many pregnancy books on the market that it can be difficult to find one that will suit you. Here are a few of my top picks.

The Pregnancy Book by William Sears M.D. and Martha Sears

If you are only going to buy one pregnancy book, get this one. This book is written by well known pediatrician Dr. William Sears. The book covers a wide range of topics including fetal development, emotional changes, physical changes and a wide variety of common concerns. The book is a complete guide to pregnancy and the information is broken down month by month. The index in the back of the book makes finding the information you need easy.

The book covers more than most pregnancy books. There is great information on nutrition, exercise, birthing options and the postpartum period. The authors do a good job of educating the reader without instilling fear or treating pregnancy as a medical emergency. The authors are the parents of eight children and have written many books on the subjects of pregnancy, birth, breastfeeding and parenting.

When you are pregnant, you may worry about what is safe for baby and what you should avoid. This book helps you identify potential toxins in your environment.
