Habitat for Humanity HomeStore

If you are looking for a frugal and feel-good way to update, renovate or redesign your home, check out this great resource!

As you know, we have a great older home nestled in two acres of woods in Pennsylvania. We love our home, but is serious need of some updating and renovation. Our next major project is going to be updating our kitchen. And of course, we don’t want to spend a lot of money. You can ready about our kitchen adventures in the Home Blog. Click here for the first article. More articles on our update will be coming later today.

One resource that we will definitely be looking into is the Habitat for Humanity HomeStore. We are hoping to find some flooring, cabinet and draw pulls, stain or paint and maybe even a double kitchen sink!
What is the Habitat for Humanity HomeStore?

This store is a retail outlet that is filled with used and surplus building material that is donated by manufacturers, contractors, demolition crews and homeowners, or it is material that left over from Habitat for Humanity projects. All of the money raised by the sale of the goods is then used for Habitat for Humanity building projects.

What can you buy at a Habitat for Humanity HomeStore?

All material is of good quality and sold for a fraction of the retail price. You can find everything from wood to windows. Typical items you might find at this store include plumbing, cabinets, doors, flooring and electrical fixtures. Most of the material is new surplus, although some items are gently used.

Where can you find a Habitat for Humanity HomeStore?

There are 150 locations throughout the United States and Canada. The way that I found my local Habitat for Humanity HomeStore is by googling “Habitat for Humanity store.” In fact, I found two of the stores within driving distance of my home that way.
