Birthday Card Two
I love to make cards. It is a quick project where you can see the final results quickly (unlike a scrapbook that may have no end.) I want to share a birthday card that I just finished and hope to spark some creative card making for you!
The paper used for this card is all from the SEI Twitterpated line. This paper was so much fun to work with! I also used Making Memories magnetic stamps, ink, Quickutz Studio Alphabet, Heidi Swapp photo corners and the blue fiber. Here are the steps I followed to complete the card.
1. Cut a light pink piece of paper (11” by 4 1/4”) for the card and fold in half. Set aside.
2. Cut a piece of pink paper to be the front of the card (5 1/2” by 4 1/4”.) I like to create the front of the card separate from the card that you open so that brads, staples, ribbon, etc. can be hidden when the card front is attached to the card. I think it looks more professional than opening a card and seeing all of the metal pieces poking through.
3. Cut a small rectangle ( 1 3/4” by 4 1/4” ) to fit on the bottom of the card. Attach with Hermafix.
4. Punch the letters using the Quickutz hand tool and Studio Alphabet to spell the word “happy” from a variety of the SEI papers. The great thing about this paper is that it is double-sided to two totally different patterns on each side of the paper. Note: You do not have a Quickutz machine to have letters for your card, you could just use letter stickers for this part.
5. Put the punched out letters through the Xyron machine to apply adhesive.
6. Place the letters to spell “happy” onto the paper. I had fun playing around with the arrangement and enjoyed the playful result.
7. Use the Making Memories magnetic stamps to spell the word “birthday” and stamp onto the card.
8. Place the blue fiber across the seam of the patterned paper and card front, attaching with glue dots. Cut the fiber slightly longer than the width of the card and wrap the ends around the back of the card front. Attach the ends with glue dots on the back of the paper.
9. Ink the two photo corners and slide them onto the two corners of the card.
10. Attach the card front to the card with Hermafix.
11. Enjoy giving the card away!
