Hannah Montana Movie Coming To DVD and Blu-ray

The Hannah Montana movie now has a release date for DVD. Hannah Montana: the Movie is expected to come to Blu-ray and DVD on August 18, 2009. The first-ever feature film starring the Disney Channel character will come in a special 3-disc Blu-ray edition (which include the traditional DVD version) as well as a two-disc and single-disc traditional DVD version.

Apparently the Blu-ray version is going to come with a feature that allow you to cerate a wish list of items you might want (or items your kids might want) while watching the film. Once you’re done watching the film you can then use BD-Live to quickly and easily get on the internet and order anything that strikes your fancy in the movie.

While the idea of being able to see something in the film say “I want it” and immediately purchase it does seem fairly interesting, I also think that feature may be a really strong reason for parents of Hannah Montana fans to spring for the traditional DVD version without the feature instead. I can’t image sitting down with my teenager to watch a movie with their idol in it, and giving them the ability to purchase everything that she has right from the television screen. Sounds like a recipe for disaster if you ask me.

I’m really impressed with how popular Hannah Montana has not only gotten, but been able to maintain up to this point. I seems like where ever you go you see pictures of Miley Cyrus shining back at you. Things like a DVD tied to product sales has got to if nothing else keep her bills paid. I wonder if her (or her teenage empire) gets any sort of percentage of the product sales.

Other features for the DVD’s include:

On the three-disc Blu-ray Combo–

The HoeDown ThrowDown Experience– everyone in the movie has to learn
to do it, and now you can too. Famed choreographer Jamal Sims and some of our cast members will show us all step by step how to do the dance everyone is talking about.
The Hannah Montana Store – an interactive experience that allows viewers to createa wish list of items displayed in the film and move desired items onto the internet via BD-Live capabilities. Through “Hannah’s Country Store” viewers will be able to click on the products in the movie, obtain information about the product, and purchase the merchandise.
7 Music Videos
Find Your Way Back HomeM – Miley, Emily, Billy Ray, and other cast members share with us “THEIR” hometowns: the people, places & things that make ‘em special. We’ll go to a pottery class with Miley & her sister, visit their favorite ice cream shop, and other haunts around the Franklin Tennessee Town Square. Billy Ray saddles up his iron horse to show us home viewers a firsthand account of the beauty a country town like Thompson’s Station Tennessee has to offer. But not everyone is from a small country town. Emily will show us what it’s like to grow up in the entertainment Mecca we like to call Hollywood. Perhaps it will inspire us all to find a little reason to brag of our own hailing?
Production 101: Jackson Style – Jason Earles is more than Miley’s big brother on TV. He is quite the accomplished actor. Here he will put his talents to use by interviewing cast & crew and giving us a true behind the scenes look at how this movie was made. He’ll cover the fashion, the music, the stars, lights, camera…action!
Bloopers
Deleted Scenes with Director Commentary
BD Radio Disney – Fans can stream live Radio Disney audio through their home entertainment system, complete with artist and song information and lyrics! Users can also quickly link to site offering their favorite songs for purchase.

Both the Three-Disc Blu-ray Combo Pack and Two-Disc DVD include the following bonus

The movie expected to go for around $50 for the Blu-ray version, $40 for the 2-disc DVD version, and $21 for the single-disc version. You can pre-order it now from Amazon
