Hannah Montana Shocker

Are you sitting down? If you are a parent of a Hannah Montana fan and live in New York you might just want to brace yourself for this next newsflash: The first showing of the “Hannah Montana” concert movie at the Ziegfield theater was practically empty today.

That’s right… while the rest of the country continues to battle over movie tickets that were sold out weeks ago you and your tween could have seen “Hannah Montana & Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert,” and not only that, you could have propped up your feet up on the empty chairs in front of you.

According to theater managers, the 3-D film version of Cyrus’ sold out concert was hyped as being one of the hottest tickets in town, but when the Ziegfield’s doors opened this morning only a handful of fans showed up.

One theater worker blame it on Mother Nature (a nasty winter storm was converging on the state as the movie started) while another reasoned that you’d be hard pressed to find parents who would allow their children to skip school to see a movie.

Of course, that was before a gaggle of 12-year-old Hannah-crazed fans showed up. According to theater managers, not only did the tweens brave the elements and skip school, they showed up with their respective mothers.

The mothers defended their actions by noting that none of their daughters got the chance to see the live tour so today’s outing was an effort to make it up to them.

And if that wasn’t shocking enough (you know I am being sarcastic, right) I’ve got more stunning news to share…

The Spice Girls are ending their world tour early.
According to the group’s publicist, the all-female British band will not be performing live in Australia, China, South Africa and Argentina as planned.

Reports say the girls have been drawing a disappointing turnout at some concerts. However, their publicist told reporters “the tour needs to come to an end by the end of February due to family and personal commitments for Emma, Geri, Mel B, Melanie C and Victoria.”

Hmmm… who to believe…

The news to drop the last legs of the tour is surprising since the group reunited in a blaze of publicity last June and set records when tickets for their London and L.A. shows sold out in 38 seconds when they went on sale in October.

The Spice Girls’ tour kicked off in Vancouver, Canada, in December, and included stops in Britain, the United States, Spain and Germany. The group will now end their tour in Toronto on February 26th.
