Hating on the Duggars Post Miscarriage

Nothing like kicking a person when she’s down.

What’s that timeless saying credited to wise mothers the world over: If you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all.

That goes double if you are spewing hate via social media platforms.

Just ask followers of Michelle Duggar.

The reality TV mom is back in the headlines following the announcement that she miscarried what would have been her 20th child.

Michelle told People magazine that she and her husband Jim Bob were at the doctor’s office Thursday to find out the sex of their unborn baby when her physician informed her that she had miscarried in her second trimester.

The 45-year-old mom told the magazine that after the appointment the couple returned home and told their famous brood.

“I feel like my heart broke telling my children,” Michelle told People. “They have all been so excited about this baby and looking forward to April coming around and having a new little one in our arms. That was the most difficult. The Lord is the giver of life and he can choose when that life is ready to go on and be with Him.”

According to the star of TLC’s 19 Kids and Counting this was not her first miscarriage. Michelle reveals that she lost a baby during her second pregnancy. Back then she was taking oral birth control and says that miscarriage prompted her and Jim Bob to leave the number of children they have “up to God.”

No matter how you feel about the families beliefs, there’s no reason to pass judgment and share your snide opinions with the world.

Of course, this is the 21st century, which is ruled by social media, so I guess none of us should be surprised that Tweet-happy morons took to cyberspace today to share nasty notes about the Duggar’s tragedy.

Among the most ruthless include:

LS: “Hate to say it but it’s your fault baby…”

Madison: “Michelle Duggar had a miscarriage! Sad but i’d say after 19 Kids you have #todamnmany”

TooFAb: “let’s hope losing your 20th at 5 months preggo helps keep her legs closed in the future.”

TNicole: “So, Michelle Duggar has miscarried their 20th child. I wonder what they’ll feel God is telling them now…”

It’s impossible to tell if the aforementioned tweets came from parents. Regardless, you don’t have to be a mom or a dad to sympathize with a family who has just lost an innocent baby–a baby, who Michelle says, will eventually be given a name and a funeral. Rather, you just need to be human, have a heart, and use it.
