He Said, She Said – Let’s Meet Matt!

mattandtristiGood morning, everyone! Today I’m excited to announce that we’re kicking off a new series here in Marriage. My husband, Matt Pinkston, is the new Fatherhood blogger, and he’ll also be joining me one day a week here in Marriage for a “He Said, She Said” style of blog. We both have strong opinions and we both like to talk (a lot), so this will be a lot of fun for us, and we hope it will be fun and informative for you as well.

Matt and I have been married for sixteen years, and together we have four children. As I’ve mentioned before, there is an age difference between us—he’s fifteen and a half years older than I am. Many of you might feel as though you already know Matt—I do have a tendency to talk about him a lot here in Marriage—but here’s a brief introduction of himself, from him.

Matt: I was born in Utah and have lived all over the Western U.S. and in Germany with his family. I’ve lived in no fewer than nineteen places in nineteen years while I was growing up, both with my birth family and my adoptive family. My family is very important to me, and so I’m looking forward to discussing marriage issues with my wife, the ever charismatic, vivacious, and ebullient Tristi Pinkston. It will be fun.

Tristi: Aw, I’m blushing! I’m blushing!

Matt and I would like to start out our series by sharing with you our philosophy regarding marriage. It will be the foundation for everything else we say throughout the series. We believe that marriage is the single most important relationship we can ever have, and we want to do all we can to strengthen it and to encourage husbands and wives to give the very best of themselves of each other every day. If we do discuss divorce and separation, it will be in a way that hopefully helps our readers to make those choices carefully and only after a great deal of thought and consideration. Of course, there are times when the marriage is unhealthy and should be dissolved, and we’ll discuss those things as well, but our goal is to help couples reignite their love for each other and to really be friends and partners in life.

We’re not perfect by any stretch of the imagination, but we’ve weathered some pretty tough storms, and we’d like to share with you the things we’ve learned. And if you have any questions or topics you’d like us to address, you can leave a comment here in the comment box and we will answer you in a future blog.

Matt: We hope that as you read about our experiences, you will find ways to strengthen your own marriage, or prepare for a marriage, depending on your current stage of life.
