The costs of raising our precious children are staggering. Over the years it has increased a great deal and this will only become more monumental in the years ahead. A two-income parent family is almost a necessity these days for most families. The two-parent family that has only one parent working outside the home is rare these days. You will usually find the other parent doing something anyway from home to contribute in some financial aspect when this is the case.
You can then imagine how difficult it is to survive on one income as most single parents do. You will find that because of this there are certain organizations that are willing to help the single parent, especially the single mother. Just recently there was an ad in my local newspaper that touched my heart. A local area church was donating their services to give free oil changes to single mothers. It is so good to know that there are people out there who understand the challenges of being a single parent even though they, themselves, are not a single parent. Unfortunately, I had just had an oil change on my vehicle the week before or I would have graciously accepted their services.
The burden, not only financially but emotionally as well, is much greater for a single parent trying to raise their family on limited income and time. To offer services such as these is a godsend for the struggling parent having to burn the candle at both ends. It is so encouraging to the single parent when someone lightens their burden even just a wee bit. To them it might mean an extra couple of hours of sleep, a few more groceries in their house, or one less bill to worry about, which are rare treats for the single parent. It is good to know that blessings are all around us and we can be thankful for the kindness of others.
