Home Product Recall: July 17, 2008

block house We all know about the massive toy recalls that have been in the news, of course. But there are many other recalls out there, including in home products. You might have a product that is deemed dangerous. Here are the current recalls involving home products, including furniture, outdoor items, health items and more.

Outdoor Canopies

Wanda Technology is recalling outdoor canopies that were sold exclusively at BJ’s wholesale club because they could pose a fire hazard to consumers. The 10 foot by 20 foot canopies were sold from January 2008 until about May 2008 for around $200. They are white with a metal frame and four corner posts. Look for the code number 1020-8-WT2007, which can be found one a label sewn into the fabric. Contact Wanda Technology through the phone at (866) 312-8799 or visit BJ’s website for more information www.bjs.com.

Indoor Lighting

Progress Lighting has recalled about 7,500 indoor lighting fixtures because the cable that supports the fixture when it is hanging from the ceiling can fail, causing injury to anyone underneath the light. So far there have been five reported cases of injury. The light fixtures are part of the International Series or under the Thomasville Lighting brand name and feature metal hardware and frosted glass. The light fixtures were sold from January 2005 through March 2008 and cost from $290 to $1.150. Look for the model number on the packaging or inside the light’s canopy. The model numbers being recalled are:
