Homeschooling Resource of the Day: 09/17/07

Homeschooling resource of the day will be a new daily blog that will feature daily resources for homeschoolers everywhere. I am just including some things off the top of my head that will come in handy. If there is anything you would like to see added, changed, or featured, please let me know.

Today’s website is Homeschool Buyers Co-op. I love Homeschool Buyers Co-op! It is an on line co-op that offers a lot of different homeschooling resources all in one place. Some of the items require you to be a member, but membership is absolutely free. There are “group buys,“ which are deals that they have worked out with different sites and merchants for their products purchased at a discount depending on how many people purchase it. There are “exclusive discounts,” which are deals they have worked out with merchants that can be purchased anytime. There’s also the deal of the month. The deal of the month is a large discount to anyone who purchases the special for that month. Then there are free resources, which include curriculum, field trips, and contests. You can even create free printable homeschooler ID cards on their site for students and educators.

Word of the day:
cog·ni·tion /kog-nish-uhn/ – noun
1.the act or process of knowing; perception.
2.the product of such a process; something thus known, perceived, etc.
3.knowledge.

Today’s homeschooling book of the day is Home Learning Year by Year. This book walks you through grade by grade and tells you what knowledge is expected of each level. This is a great book not only for those creating their own curriculum for their children, but also for those who buy prepackaged ones. It will help reassure the many homeschooling parents when they have their usual doubts about whether or not your children are learning everything they should be.
