Homeschooling Resource of the Day: 09/22/07

Welcome to another edition of homeschooling resource of the day. As always, if you see something you want changed, you have something you would like added, or know of something that should be featured please feel free to leave me a comment.

Today’s website is Curriki. “Curriki is where all of us — our community of educators, parents and students can work together to develop interesting, creative and effective educational materials that the global educational community can use for free.” This website has literally thousands of units available in all subjects. This is a great resource for building your curriculum, or for looking for a unit to fill in. Membership is free, and you are able to add your own lesson plans here as well if you wish.

Word of the day: parlous \PAR-luhs\, adjective:
Attended with peril; fraught with danger; hazardous.

Today’s homeschooling book(s) of the day is: The Toddlers Busy Book. One of the most common questions I hear on all of the groups, boards, and chats I am a member of is “What do you do with your younger children while you are homeschooling.” The best answer is, get them involved. Not necessarily in the activities the older children are involved in, though if you can, that’s always great. They want special time with mom and dad too, because that’s what they see homeschooling as. This is a great book with 365 activities to do with one and a half to three year olds. Everything is done with things you have around the house anyway.
