For my second grader, Easter can’t come soon enough. And by Easter I mean the solid chocolate bunnies, electric blue Peeps and money-filled plastic eggs.
Me, I wish I could rewind to January and start the year over.
Alas, Easter is definitely on its way, and like it or not I have to hop to it pretty darn soon if I want to pull off all of the holiday-themed projects my daughter is insisting we complete.
If you are looking for ways to create affordable Easter decorations for your home and you have a kiddo chomping at the bit to help craft them, then consider the following:
EASTER BUNNY CANDY JAR
Materials:
Clean glass jar with label removed
Cotton balls
Googly eyes
White and pink felt
Ribbon
Glue
Scissors
Jelly beans or other Easter candy
Directions:
Cover the top of the lid with craft glue.
Pull three or four cotton balls apart, and then attach to the top and sides of the lid.
Add eyes.
Cut out a small triangle from the pink felt, and glue it on as the bunny’s nose.
Cut oval shapes from the white and pink felt to make ears for the bunny.
Glue the ears to the back of the lid.
Fill the jar with candy.
Screw the lid back on the jar.
Glue a cotton ball to the back of the jar to give your bunny a tail.
Tie some ribbon around the top of the jar to give the bunny a bow tie.
HOMEMADE BUNNY EARS
Materials:
Poster board
Scissors
Pink construction paper
Glue
Tape
Directions:
Cut out a piece of poster board large enough to go around your child’s head.
Cut out bunny ear shapes from the poster board, and smaller ear shapes out of pink construction paper.
Glue the pink part of the ears to the white part of the ears, and attach the ears to the headpiece, making sure that the ears are positioned correctly on your child’s head.
Trim the headpiece to fit and tape closed.
