How Close Is Britney To Losing Her Kids?

Note to Britney Spears: If you haven’t already noticed, things are not looking good for you.

Yesterday was a bad day for the former Mousekeeter and today doesn’t look any better.

If you missed the crawls at the bottom of every news channel on TV, Brit-Brit’s manager and attorney dumped her less than 24 hours ago. A double dumping—-less than four hours apart from each other–that may be a new record.

According to the singer’s now former manager (she’s bled through at least three since her infamous meltdowns), he was “saddened” (yeah, right) to confirm that he and Brit parted ways.

The statement ended by saying: “We believe Britney is enormously talented, and has made a terrific record. But current circumstances have prevented us from properly doing our job. We wish Britney the best.”

The statement didn’t say what those circumstances were, but several entertainment magazines are pointing to the obvious—-the defiant pop-tart’s disastrous performance at MTV’s Video Music Awards.

To make matter worse, just hours prior to getting the boot from her manager, Spears’ miracle-worker attorney (named such for being able to secure the train wreck a 50-50 custody arrangement with Fed-Ex after exiting rehab) Laura Wasser announced she would no longer be representing Ms. Meltdown. Wasser told news reporters that Spears would be in “excellent hands” with her replacement and added, “I don’t want anyone to perceive that we’re dumping Britney.”

Hmmm… what are we supposed to perceive it as?

Wasser executed her last strategic move as the pop diva’s attorney early Monday morning when it was revealed that the much-hyped “secret witness” in Spears’ custody battle with Kevin Federline was one of the singer’s former body guards.

Tony Barretto maintains that the pop princess is a “horrible mother” and was prepared to testify about “issues of nudity by Ms. Spears, drug use and safety issues involving the children” that he witnessed as her bodyguard before she fired him last May.

Wasser adamantly denied that Spears ever dabbled in illegal narcotics and deemed Barretto a “non-credible witness.”

As for the rumors that Brit is “this close” to losing her kids, according to Wasser, the couple’s current 50-50 custody arrangement will remain in effect until further notice.

You’ll recall Federline is seeking primary physical custody of the couple’s two sons and his attorney has deposed many of Spears’ former associates and plans to use their remarks regarding the pop star’s questionable parenting skills against her in future court appearances.

You have to wonder how many people have to distance themselves from Spears before she gets the message that her current lifestyle (and attitude) is NOT working for her.
