How Much Should I Weigh?

This is a common question for those trying to lose weight. Figuring out your ideal weight is not always easy.

There are a number of factors to consider:

Your BMI- This stands for Body Mass Index, which is a measure of your body weight in relation to your height. According to experts, if your MBI is below 18.5 you are considered underweight. A BMI between 18.5 and 25 indicates you are at a healthy weight. A BMI between 20 and 30 indicates you are overweight. If your BMI is over 30, you are considered obese. See the chart to find your BMI. And don’t let the results send you running to the fridge in despair. This is only one way to gage your weight, and much more needs to be taken into consideration than this number.

What’s your waist size?-According to experts such as Dr. Mehmet Oz, it’s not so much the number on the scale that matters, it’s your waist size. Ladies, if your waist size is greater than 34 inches, you are at risk for disease and early death. Men, if your waist size is more than 34 inches, the same applies to you. This is especially hard for apple-shaped people, who carry their extra weight around their stomach areas.

Are you small or large-boned?-Yes, bone size matters. Those with larger bone structures can carry more weight than those with small bone structures. The problem many people have is that they assume they’re large-boned, when in fact they are not.
Losing weight is not easy. Figuring out how much you should weigh isn’t cut and dry either. Determine where you feel most comfortable. Whether or not the BMI scale agrees or not, speak with your doctor. He or she can help you find a desirable weight range that works for you.
