How to Have Fun despite the Challenges of Marriage

Every couple faces the burdens and challenges of life, but the couple that laughs together, stays together. At least that’s more likely to be the case. There are no guarantees, but truly, a sense of humor is one of the best ways to cope with difficulties and challenges that arise in life, and in a marriage. This doesn’t mean you don’t take anything seriously, it simply means you’ve decided to lighten up and look on the bright side of things.

Having fun means going out on dates with the one you love, taking day trips, and going on hikes and adventures. It means you stay in touch with the child within and learn to laugh and let go of the weight of the world you’ve been carrying around.

For some people, having fun is something they’ve forgotten how to do. Because of the cares of life, pressures at work, stress among siblings and in-laws, having fun can be difficult. It’s important for the spouse who is less stressed to help his or her mate lighten up. Surprise them with their favorite dessert. Rent some comedies to watch together. Plan an outing as a surprise. Just have a little fun!

There are other ways to have fun that include enjoying a new hobby together. Some couples take up tennis or pottery making. You may want to take a paint class together or some other craft that you’ve both always wanted to learn.

Other ideas to consider are special events around your city. Take a look at your newspaper calendar of events and consider going to art fairs, a museum, or maybe even the Renaissance Festival if it comes through your town. If you have children, consider going horseback riding, to a carnival or a cider orchard. The possibilities are limitless. Use your imagination. Most of all, having fun is like anything else. It’s starts as a state of mind and from there blossoms to fun activities.
