How to Prepare Your Christmas Cards

christmas cards Are you always behind on preparing your Christmas cards or Holiday cards? Here are some easy steps that you can take to make the process smooth and fun this year.

First, get your list started. This may simply be a review of last year’s list. If you don’t have a list, you’ll have to start from scratch. Figure out if you need separate lists for home and business. A good place to start is with your address books.

Start with the people that you know you must send cards too. Prioritizing gives you some wiggle room. Instead of trying to get it all done at once. Start with the addresses that are high priority. Once those are done, you can then start on the next set of cards you would like to send.

Next, designate a spot where you can collect all of the envelopes that come with the Christmas cards that are sent to you. You’ll want to use these envelopes to update addresses and add new recipients to your Christmas card list.

Purchase or make your cards as early as you can. Choose regular cards, not oversized ones, so you won’t have to make a trip to the post office to weigh and mail them.

If you are ordering cards that may take a while to come in, such as personalized cards or photo cards, see if you can get the envelopes in advance. This way you can start putting your return address on them, or maybe even addressing them completely.

By the same token, purchase your stamps in advance. The early you hit the post office, the better at this time of year.

Decide when you would like to have your cards mailed, and how many days you have left to mail them. Divide the number of days by the number of cards to get an idea of how many cards you should prepare per day.
