How to Use Coupons on Prescription Drugs

prescription drugs Who doesn’t want to save money on their prescription drugs? Did you know that you can use coupons on most name-brand prescription medication? It is true! Here are the guidelines for how you can successfully use coupons on your prescriptions.

There are so many new coupons out there for prescription drugs, but many people don’t know about them. Just google the name of your drug plus the word coupon or discount to see what you find. You can also go directly to the manufacturer’s website to see promotions and coupons. You can often save anywhere from $10 to $50 per month using coupons for your prescriptions. With some plans, you only have to sign up or print one coupon that will give you the discount for multiple months.

You can also ask your doctor or pharmacist if they have any coupons. Sometimes drug companies will give them coupons to distribute.

Don’t bother looking for coupons on generic drugs. They just aren’t out there. What you can do, though, is compare the cost of the generic drug against the cost of the name brand drug minus the coupons to see which is the better deal. Also, talk to your doctor. In some cases, a generic drug won’t be right for you any way, and not all drugs have a generic counterpart.

Many store coupons, such as CVS coupons, can not be applied to prescriptions. However, you can apply certain coupons savings to your order that includes prescriptions. For example, though careful coupon use on other products, you may wind up getting a discount that is larger than the price you are paying for those items. This is called overage. You can then use that overage that you got using coupons to help pay for your prescriptions, if you purchase them at the same time.
