A realtor has an unbelievable burden (no, I am not one). But, just imagine the many challenges that they encounter. They have picky buyers in a seller’s market, or sellers selling in a slow one. I have included some of the “best of” moments either personally experienced or that I have heard about from friends. Many of these are way above and beyond what anyone should expect from a great realtor. Also, we’re keeping it positive on this one, but along the road, expect to hear about the experiences on the other side.
1. Worked at any hour. There is no nine to five for real estate agents. Along with hearing the verdict on an offer at eight at night because our house hunt ended the next day, I have had realtors make last minute child care arrangements so that they could celebrate an accepted contract with us.
2. Had the lawn cut because we had moved. The neighbors love this one the most. While we had already relocated to our new home in Virginia, our selling agent made sure that somehow our lawn got cut.
3. A house in every part of town. Usually people have some idea of a neighborhood or subdivision they want to move to. Well, not us. In fact, we have had realtors show us a house in every corner of a town and its surrounding suburbs just to make sure we knew all of our options.
4. Superior listings. Our last agent set up our virtual tour with a great photographer, made sure that our description was perfect and did it all within the first week of it being on the market.
5. Strange errands. We were out of town when a showing resulted in a broken lock. Without any extra keys available in a 300 mile radius, our agent hired a locksmith to take care of everything.
These good deeds are just the pieces we know about. Imagine all the pets being dealt with during showings and last minute counter top wipe downs when you couldn’t get there in time. If you have a story to share about an amazing real estate agent, then let’s hear it.
