I Really Do Feel Better When I Get the Work Done

We talk a great deal here in the Home Business blog about motivation–how we can stay on task and wrestle with the realities of trying to run a home business and meet other obligations as well. While I do try not to be a perfectionist and not to beat myself up when I do not meet all my self-imposed expectations, I have to admit that I really do feel better all around when I get my work done!

Like many of you, I do tend to bite off more than I can chew when it comes to my work life; and I also end up trying to juggle family life, other work, a little time for myself, responsibilities, obligations, details, etc. But, the truth is, when I do stay on task and get things done the way I intended, I feel so much better. I tell myself that I cannot figure out why I don’t stay on top of things all of the time since it feels so good! Of course, I know fully well that it is impossible for me to get everything done all the time and I need to be able to adjust when I don’t, but still, it really is a fine feeling knowing that I have met my goals, crossed everything off my to-do list and am not falling behind for a change.

In my part of the world, today is a perfect day for the first full day of Daylight Savings Time–sunny, the slightest breeze, a little warm (if you are standing in the sun)–absolutely Spring-like. Not the best day for staying motivated and strapped to the desk to get work done. But, as I check things off my list and feel myself gaining control, knowing that I will not start another week behind the 8-ball, it feels so incredibly great!
