I Want To Be Wrong

My new Booby pal is due to have her biopsy on Friday. She said that her doctor wanted to wait until her monthly visitor came to see if the lump was still there. Well considering it has been there for over a year my guess is that it will be there before, during and after the visitor leaves. I am not 100% sure that she did not want to wait on the biopsy. I know she is scared to get it done, I was too.

I wanted to take her by the shoulder and say look you could potentially have a ticking time bomb in you and you are waiting because you are scared. If she had a real bomb in her hands would she hold it tight or would she toss it like she was playing hot potato. I really truly do understand her fear and her wanting to put off hearing the results.

How do I explain to her that she really needs to get her biopsy done as soon as possible that it is better to know and deal with it than ignore it, worry about it and stress out about it? No one can say when a cancer will move into lymph nodes or other organs so isn’t it better to get it out as soon as possible. I hope she gets to the doctor and does get it out this week. I hope my feeling is wrong that it will not turn out to be cancer. I would never be so happy to be wrong. I truly hope that I am wrong I would love to tell her I am sorry that she had this cancer scare and so glad it was a false scare but I do not think I will get that chance.

I am going to school right now and I had to do an informative speech so I chose breast cancer. Hey I know the facts and the most important part that I stressed upon over and over was not to ignore the signs out of fear or cost. There are so many resources to get help. You can check out the American Cancer Society at www.cancer.org or the Susan B Komen Society at www.komen.org.

As I ended my speech “They are your boobies you need to do what you can to keep them.”

About Tammy Woolard

My name is Tammy and I am 40 year old mother of 3 wonderful children who came to us through domestic adoption. Although we did not have any fertility issues we chose adoption because there are so many kids that did not ask to be born but truly want a family to love. We did research on adoption choices and decided on domestic adoption through CPS. You would be surprised the differences between each agency. The adoption process is nothing like you see in the movies. I am also a 5 year breast cancer survivor. When I was diagnosed my kids were 3, 5 and 7 I did so much research I may have driven my Dr. a little crazy but that is ok it is my body not his.
