Holidays are the fuel that drives most scrapbookers, though after a few years, these special layouts may get a bit stale.
With Easter just around the corner, consider spicing up your holiday page designs with the following ideas:
POEMS
Easter lends itself to a variety of prose, from religious to whimsical. If you are creating a memory book dedicated solely to Easter, consider creating a couple of pages that highlight original or reproduced holiday-themed poems. You could opt to design a layout around a single Easter poem and embellish it with stickers and stamps or adhere a copy of the poem next to a special photo. Another option is to write the poem around a photo in the shape of a frame. If you are looking to feature a longer poem on the page, print it out on plain paper and use it as a decorative background for the layout. Then, strategically place Easter-themed photos on the page.
PAPER
There is an endless array of Easter-themed scrapbook paper available in stores and online. If you are not a fan of busy background paper, opt for choices that have smaller graphics or designs in the center or corners of the page that are light enough that they won’t compromise any handwritten elements you want to add. Another easy option is to use paper that have graphics printed only along the borders of the page, such as small baskets, crosses, flowers, Easter eggs, lambs, angels, crown of thorns, bunnies, or hands folded in prayer.
SYMBOLS
If you don’t have a ton of photos to add to your layout, then turn to books, magazine, brochures or online clip art to supplement your Easter-themed page designs. Common symbols associated with Easter include lilies, bonnets, baskets, and baby chicks. Scrapbookers with young children can add their offspring’s Easter art projects to layouts. My daughter recently made an Easter wreath from a collection of her handprints. I placed the construction paper project in the middle of the page and added photos and embellishments around it.
