Well, it’s done. Paris Hilton is behind bars right now. According to news reports, the hotel heiress reported to jail late Sunday night—-just hours after attending the MTV Music Awards. (You didn’t expect her jail time to interfere with that bash did you?)
And so it begins… the countdown to Hilton’s release is on. For the next 23 days the socialite will be spending 23 hours a day in 12-by-8-foot cell with a bunk, a table, a sink, a toilet and a small window. Hilton reportedly does not have a cellmate and will be able to spend one hour a day outside of her cell watching TV, taking a shower or strolling the outdoor rec area.
According to Hilton’s attorney, Paris the inmate was issued a booking number, a wristband and jail clothing, an orange top and pants—a stark contrast to the black strapless couture dress she donned hours earlier at the MTV Movie Awards. Speaking of the awards show… the 26-year-old blonde party girl reportedly ate her last meal as a free woman there. According to PEOPLE Magazine, Hilton “made a beeline for the buffet table” where she noshed on everything from mini egg salad sandwiches to caprese salad on toast and carrots.
The culinary selections are a far cry from what Hilton was given upon being booked into the Century Regional Detention Facility just after 11:30 p.m. According to news reports, the reality TV star was given cereal, bread and juice as she headed to her cell around 1 a.m. (though, no one would confirm whether Hilton touched any of it).
To her credit (I guess) Hilton was reportedly “cooperative” during the booking process. Sheriff deputies told news reporters that Hilton was not given preferential treatment, which means she was subject to a strip search just like the rest of the inmates and was required to surrender all of her personal possessions.
The socialite is allowed and will likely be receiving a steady stream of visitors in the coming days, which means that despite the fact that she is behind bars, we’ve haven’t heard the last from Paris Hilton.
