Inches Off!

I am holding my breath, not daring to think too much of it. I have finally gotten under a plateau that I have been battling for months now. Many, many months. I teetered back and forth all of this time, but I have finally reached it. I am afraid to make a move or rather not to make a move.

I have been exercising no more than usual, but using different types of exercise all at the same time. The stepper machine has worked wonders on getting the inches off and toning the lower half up. I can feel it working and it is amazing.

Losing inches more than weight means that you are losing fat mass. Sometimes you will not see a great difference in weight loss even through our hard work with eating healthy and exercising. The exercise and subsequent loss of inches simply means that you are building up your muscle mass, which is the correct route to be taking because muscle mass burns off calories more efficiently than fat does….by almost 25 times more. That is right. Eventually while you are losing inches you will notice that you are losing weight as well.

Do not get discouraged no matter how long you take to get over the plateaus that are common on an exercise and weight loss regime. Keep plugging along. Move. Twist, turn, walk, run, do aerobics, bicycle, spin, step, jog, hula-hoop, jump rope, whatever it is that you like to do or a combination of them all. If you are the kind of person who has to have variety in order to keep from getting bored, that is okay too. If you are persistent and keep up the fight eventually something has got to give. I can attest to that.

Losing weight is not the only way to measure success. Losing inches can be equally as gratifying.
