Do you know what to give on Secretary’s Day (Administrative Assistant’s Day) or Boss’s Day? Or how about to celebrate another holiday or a promotion? Getting nice gifts for the people you work with doesn’t have to cost a lot. Here are some great ideas for inexpensive co-worker gifts.
Personalized Photo Cards
Scan photos from your co-worker’s desk, and then have the files made into note cards. You may save even more money by purchasing note cards and then printing the photos with your home printer. Tie the cards with a ribbon and add envelopes. You can even add the recipients name or a message on the front above or below the photo.
Food Gifts
You can’t go wrong with food gifts for co-workers,. Food gifts are warm, friendly and thoughtful without getting too personal. Some favorite ideas are cookies, chocolate dipped spoons, chocolate dipped pretzels, candy, gifts in a jar, meal kits, and more, all of which can be home made to save money and add a one-of-a-kind touch. A “snack attack” basket of goodies is another fun idea.
Plants
Plants and flowers can liven up an office space and enhance a mood. Plants can also be quite inexpensive, especially if you take cuttings from your own garden.
One idea is to find a pretty narrow necked bottle and fill it half way with colored water (food coloring added to the water). Place a cork in the bottle and cut a small slit in the cork. Inset a flower or plant cutting through the slit. Tie a ribbon or chain with a small charm or use a ready made wine charm just to enhance the look of the gift.
For another idea, dig up a small plant, such as a violet or aloe vera plant. Pot it in a coffee mug into which you have placed potting soil. Coffee mugs are quite inexpensive and can be had for free on freecycle or for just pennies at a thrift store.
