Insurance Blog Week In Review January 30-February 5, 2007

Insurance Term Of The Week:

Personal Injury Protection, PIP

It has been an interesting and educational few weeks for this Insurance Blog writer! There is nothing better than real-life experience to teach a person a thing or two! Dealing with our Employer Provided Group Health Insurance company has been a real eye-opener for me.

Point Tuesday, January 30

Primary and Secondary Health Insurance Coverage, Because our youngest children are biological special needs siblings, adopted from foster care they have State Medical benefits as well as coverage under our employer provided group health. We also had, primary and secondary health insurance for the older two-when I married Andrew. We had two employer provided health plans for the older two.

Point Wednesday, January 31

A Families.com member had left a specific question as a comment on one of the Ask Anna Blogs: The situation was an Injury Accident involving No Fault Auto Insurance. I wrote a couple of Blogs about the Basics of No Fault Auto insurance and the Pro’s and Con’s of No Fault Auto Insurance.

On Wednesday I wrote an additional Blog specifically addressing the Families.com members comments about a Pennsylvania Auto Accident and Injury Claim. It was very interesting to research and reminds me to remind my readers to understand the insurance laws in their own state, ask your agent or insurance company the important questions before you suffer a loss.

Point Thursday, February 1

The drama of my ongoing personal experiences with our health insurance offered me several topics to Blog about. The most upsetting and surprising was learning that Doctors employed by Insurance companies actually do dictate treatment plans. Some doctor sitting in an insurance office high-rise decides the treatment plan for people he has never personally met. It’s amazing and there are certain things I suggest anyone in a similar situation considers trying. Read the Doctor to Doctor Review Blog if you are interested in more.

Point Friday, February 2

Adding to the Insurance Company Reviews I thought it was about time to tell the story of how I first started in the Insurance Business. Who would have ever believed the that young girl who walked into an office to transfer car insurance into her own name, would be given the opportunities I have been–with Insurance along the way! I wouldn’t be doing what I am today–If I hadn’t been an apprentice of an amazing man and Insurance Agent who worked for The Farmers Insurance Group of Companies.

Point Saturday, February 3

Once the health insurance company decides they won’t offer any more coverage for a certain situation they will send you an Initial Denial of Authorization-A Letter detailing some of the rights you may have.

Point Sunday, February 4

  • When I first got the Initial Denial of Authorization I wasn’t intending on appealing the decision of our insurance company, but after reviewing the Copy of All Documents, Relevant to an Appeal I changed my mind and decided the insurance records were so incomplete and inaccurate there is no choice but, to appeal if only to correct the records. I’m sure I will be Blogging more on this subject.
  • I thought it would be a good idea to write a Blog about Personal Injury Protection or PIP. The special type of “no fault” auto insurance coverage may be found in states where no other no fault auto insurance is offered. Oregon for example is a liability state but, PIP or no fault medical is the standard auto policy. PIP pays medical costs for you and your passengers regardless of which driver is at fault for an accident.

Point Monday, February 5

Over the next several weeks one of the area’s I will be working to build in the Insurance Blogs will be The Business of Insurance category. To kick things off I thought I would start with an overview of the different Insurance related careers. Along with an overview of What the Business of Insurance really is all about.
