NPR released an episode of “Morning Edition” on June 11, 2012. This episode is called “For Uninsured in Ore., A Flat Fee For Health Care”. This episode talks about something new that clinics in Oregon are doing. They charge patients a set monthly fee for basic medical care. The clinics do not accept health insurance as a form of payment.

NPR has another episode of “Morning Edition” that was also released on June 11, 2012. This episode is called “Health Care Decision Hinges on a Crucial Clause”. NPR released an episode of “Weekend Edition Sunday” on June 10, 2012. This episode is called “Southern Farmers See Midwestern Bias in Farm Bill”. A bill in Congress right now would end direct payments to farmers by expanding crop insurance programs. Farmers in the South are against this because it won’t help them with the crops they produce. Farmers grow our food, so crop insurance affects us all.

NPR released an episode of “Tell Me More” on May 31, 2012. This episode is called “Sick in America: Hispanics Grapple With Cost and Quality of Care”. An NPR poll showed that Hispanic Americans are struggling with medical bills more than other groups. This is because Hispanics are more likely than other groups to lack health insurance coverage.

PBS NewsHour released an episode on “Health Care Reform: The Comic Book” on June 8, 2012. This episode focuses on a comic book that was written by Jonathan Gruber, who is an economist and professor at MIT, and was illustrated by Nathan Schreiber. If you are having trouble understanding what is going on with health care reform, this comic will help explain it to you.
