Introducing the Food Blog’s Weekly Shopping List and Tidbits (I Need Your Help!)

If you regularly read the Families.com blogs, you know by now that many blogs include a week in review that links all the blogs from the previous week. Why do we do this? Well, I for one like to check the week in review to see if I missed something or to even get a quick summary of the articles and pick the ones that really pertain to my interests. However, I’ve decided such a review in the food blog is not nearly as useful as. . .

A weekly shopping list. Wouldn’t it be easier to have one shopping list that you can print out (with links to the appropriate recipes) so you know exactly what food you have to buy if you want to try all those recipes? Starting later today, you’ll have exactly that! The Food Blog’s week in review is going to take the form of a shopping list! Here’s how you can use it:

For each ingredient I will list the amount that you need if you were to try all of the recipes in the food blog. Next to the ingredients, I will link the appropriate recipes so that when you’re ready to cook you can print those out easily too. Also, this way if there’s something you’re not quite ready to try, you can save it for later.

But never fear! If you’ve been reading the food blog this past month you’ll notice that I’m passionate about all things food and there are also articles about various food trends, issues, and just plain interesting information. I’ll make sure to include those in the review too so that if you’re looking to catch up on your food related news–you’ll have it all in one place.

Here’s where I need your help. The point of doing the food blog’s review as a shopping list is to be as useful as possible to my readers. If I were to simply review the week, you would have to go back through each recipe you wanted to try, write down the ingredients and then if you wanted to try several recipes you’d have to combine all the ingredients to come up with a list. Finally you’d have to go back through and print the recipes and well, that’s just too much work for you!

What I’d like for you to do, is look over this week’s grocery list which will be posted later today. Then I’d like for you to comment on its usefulness. What could I do to make this the most useful part of the blog for you? Can I format it differently? Please, let me know! No suggestion is too small for me to consider! Looking forward to hearing from you!
