iPhone News Roundup

Here is the latest news iPhone news that is making the headlines for today, July 2, 2007.

Outselling estimates

Before the launch of the iPhone last Friday, June 29th, analysts were predicting sales of 200,000 to 312,000 iPhones. critics thought those numbers were far too high. But, it seems both the analysts and the critics were wrong about the iPhone sales. In actuality, more than 525,000 units were sold this past weekend, according to both the Los Angles Times and Reuters in reports released today.

Analyst Trip Chowdhry of Global Equities Research in San Francisco, reported that at least half of the stores on the west coast have already sold out of the iPhone. There are no reports concerning AT&T stores, where Apple urged customers to seek out their iPhones for purchase.

Problems with service

With the high demand of the iPhone, it appears that a small percentage of iPhone users are experiencing a delay in their activation services for the phone. How frustrating that must be considering the lengths that many took to be one of the first to get an iPhone, including standing in line outside of the store for days and days.

Smashed iPhones

It seems that some people just can’t help themselves. There has been a lot of reporting of smashed iPhones in the news. Why would anyone want to smash a nearly $600 device that comes with a required two years of phone service and a cancellation fee? Because these gadget gurus just have to open up the phones and take a good look inside. They want to see the inner workers of this revolutionary unit. Of course, there has got to be a percentage of the smashers that just can’t put their phones back together again. Perhaps that is why Apple and AT&T allowed the purchase of two iPhones per person?
