It’s Homecoming week at a number of high schools in our area. I know this because earlier tonight I saw my neighbor’s daughter standing outside in her full-length ball gown posing with her date and a group of other friends.
That was a few hours ago. I’ll bet $500 that her mom already cropped and printed the photos and has them featured in at least four or five scrapbook layouts. The woman is a machine when it comes to scrapping and I know she didn’t waste a minute getting her daughter’s Homecoming pictures in place in what are probably eye-popping designs complete with glitter, stickers, stamps, brads, pressed flowers, mylar strips and a host of other killer embellishments.
Homecoming and prom are huge milestones in the life of a teen. In fact, senior year in high school is jam-packed with memories to last a lifetime. I’m not sure how my neighbor’s daughter’s senior scrapbook is coming along, but I would be shocked if it didn’t include a page or two of tonight’s festivities lined with journaling and other sentimental quotes.
For an event like Homecoming I would include:
*Name of your date
*What your dress looked like
*Favorite part of the evening
*Where you had dinner
*Who else was part of the group
*What you did after the dance
*Name of the songs you danced to
*What time you got home
You could also journal about the friends that are featured with you in your Homecoming pictures. Jot down the names of your friends and how long you’ve known each other, what you like to do for fun and where you met.
If you are not a big fan of journaling, then look some inspirational quotes to add to your layout. There are hundreds of books and websites that offer free sayings that can enhance your Homecoming layouts, such as:
