Wow, talk about a pair made in Dancing Heaven! Hot stuff strutter Karina Smirnoff and handsome hunk Maksim Chmerkovskiy have announced their engagement. I can just hear hearts, both male and female, breaking all over America! Sources told E! News that the couple got engaged just before New Year’s Day. Both are currently on the “Dancing with the Stars” tour.

Karina had been dating her “Dancing with the Stars” Season 3 partner Mario Lopez, but the two broke up after dating for two years. Given Lopez’s romantic past (he was married to Ali Landry for two weeks until she ended the marriage based on rumored infidelities by Lopez the week before the wedding), maybe Karina felt it was best to move on.
And move on she did – quickly! Karina and Maksim was photographed dancing closer-than-this off the set, yet remained mum about their relationship. Now, just six months after ending her relationship with Lopez, it looks as if the two Ukrainian hotties are ready to make it legal. Nothing has been official announced yet as far as a wedding date, but you can look for the couple on Season 8 of “Dancing with the Stars,” which will begin on March 9th.
Despite being three months pregnant, another female celebrity had decided to end her marriage. “Gossip Girl” star Kelly Rutherford has filed for divorce from her husband of a little over two years, millionaire German businessman Daniel Giersch, citing “irreconcilable differences.” That same day, Giersch also filed for separation.
The couple married in August 2006 and welcomed their first child, a son named Hermes Gustaf Daniel Giersch, on October 18, 2006. The second child is due in December of 2009.
This is Kelly’s second marriage. Her first marriage, to Carlos Tarajano in June 2001 ended after six months, right before a spread in InStyle magazine featured their wedding photos.
