When buying gifts for friends and family, do you tailor your gifts according to the person they are intended for? In an earlier blog I mentioned a special gift given me for mother’s day. This time I’d like to tell you about the gifts given me my by son, his wife and family.
They were:
the CD ‘Awake’ by Josh Groban. I’m a big fan of this young man with the beautiful voice.
A DVD- ‘The Sea Hawk’ with Errol Flynn. Errol Flynn was always a favorite from when I was a child, even though his best films were made long before I was born.
A journal which has the first verse of ‘Amazing Grace’ on the cover. Every page inside has an uplifting Bible verse. What a joy that will be to write in.
These three gifts showed me how well my family knows me and my interests .They are indeed special gifts.
God also knows what we need and supplies us with special gifts. God’s love is revealed by sending His son to bring those who believe in Him to eternal life, John 3:16
God ‘richly blesses all who call on him,’ Romans 10:12. Some other gifts and blessing are found in Ephesians 1:3-14. Here is a brief run down of those blessings:
‘blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ,’ verse 3
‘Chose us in Him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight,’ verse 4.
‘Predestined us to be adopted as his sons through Jesus Christ,’ verse 5.
‘His glorious grace,’ verse 6.
‘Redemption,’ ‘forgiveness of sins,’ ‘the riches of God’s grace,’ verse 7.
‘all wisdom and understanding,’ verse 8.
‘He made known to us the mystery of his will,’ verse 9.
‘Chosen,’ ‘predestined,’ verse 11.
‘Included in Christ,’ ‘marked’ by ‘the promised Holy Spirit,’ verse 13
The Holy Spirit is our ‘deposit guaranteeing our inheritance,’ verse 14
The blessings continue throughout chapter 2. A worthwhile exercise would be, using a concordance, to search the bible for the blessings given to God’s people and then thank him for them.
