LDS Week in Review – January 28th – February 2nd

We’ve had a great week here in LDS. In case life got busy and you weren’t able to check in as often as you would have liked, here is a summary that will get you caught up.

Tristi kicked off a new series about senior missionaries in “We’re Having a Senior Moment.” Tristi’s mother is serving a mission in England and just left, and Tristi will walk us through the process of becoming a senior missionary and tell us about the joys and the pitfalls.

Miriam paid a beautiful tribute to Gordon B. Hinckley, our beloved prophet who passed away a week ago Sunday. She bore her testimony of him and the truthfulness of his messages, and shared how he was influential in her life.

In “The Church Announces a Training Meeting,” we are told that for the first time ever, a leadership training meeting will be offered to all members of the Church. You’ll want to check with local leadership to find out when it will be offered in your area.

Work Together for Success” reminds us of the importance of unity in marriage, and how a couple that is united in their efforts can bring success and harmony into their home, while a couple that is divided will only add to contention.

We continue the Latter-day Hymns series with a look at “Truth Eternal,” another musical gem by poet Parley P. Pratt.

We also learn how to break out of our “Scripture Study Rut” by approaching it a different way, by recording our thoughts while we read, and prayerfully entering the scriptures and appreciating them.

In “Consider Your Goals,” Miriam encourages us to take the time to sit down and evaluate our goals for the year 2008. We are already one month into the new year – how are we doing so far?

Are you distracted from the tasks that are the most important to you? “Getting It All Done” shares ideas for prioritizing.

Gospel Questions: Why Do Mormons Do Genealogy?” addresses the question some might have about the focus the Church has on seeking out our kindred dead.

Strong Women in the Bible” brings faithful, righteous women to the forefront and celebrates the strengths they shared that have been recorded for our learning in our own day.

We conclude this week with the second installment in the Senior Missionaries Series, “The Need for Senior Missionaries,” which shows us just how valuable more mature persons can be out in the mission field.

We hope you’ll be able to join us this week in LDS, and if you’re not, be sure to check out our next Week in Review so you don’t miss anything that might be of use to you.
