Letters for Your Kid’s Room

Scrapbooking often seeps over into our everyday lives. When we are really in a scrapping mode, and making tons of new layouts, and have a fountain of creativity flowing, we can see scrapbooking in everything! At one such time in my life, on was on the hunt for some cute wooden letters to hang in my son’s bedroom. I was having a hard time finding some that fit with his nursery decor, that still were semi-masculine. It is a very popular trend now to hang letters in a child’s room that spell out their name. I had that in my daughter’s room, and wanted that in my son’s as well!

So, while on this hunt, I thought, “Why not make some cute letters out of my scrapbooking supplies, and frame them?” So, that’s exactly what I did!

I first started out looking for frames that would be both inexpensive, and had an easy way to hang them. Surprisingly, I found some at the dollar store! So, I grabbed four (luckily my son has a short name), and decided to go to work.

One of the most important things for me was to have something that matched his nursery bedding and decor. So, I got the bright idea to cut up one of his receiving blankets that matched his bedding. Instead of paper, this would be my background! Then, I picked my largest cardstock letters that I owned. They were brown, which went perfectly with his colors in his room. Then, I picked buttons to match accent colors that I wanted. My colors were orange, green, and blue. I simply cut the receiving blanket to fit the frames I had bought. Then, I glued down the letters in the center of the piece of blanket, and last, I put three buttons next to each letter to spruce it up. One for each accent color.

The end result was this:

Here is a look at all of them together:

This is a quick, fun way to spruce up any child’s bedroom, and use those supplies you already have on hand!!
