Life Lessons from Isaiah 2

Yesterday we looked at life lessons from Isaiah 1. What can we learn and apply to our lives from Isaiah 2?

Isaiah 2:1-5 Isaiah saw that in the last days Jerusalem would flourish and become the spiritual center of God’s kingdom from which believers would learn more of God. This is obviously talking of the time when God’s Kingdom has come for it is a time of peace and no more war, and a time when the Lord Reigns as judge.

It is a challenge to each of us to think about today. How eagerly to you approach God’s Word to see what he would teach you each day?

How can you walk in the light of the Lord this week and with whom can you share what God has taught you?

Isaiah 2:6-11 People worship idols and the works of their own hands rather than God.

Sometimes it seems people will turn anywhere except to God and His Word. They try eastern religion, horoscopes, they incorporate practices from pagan religions, they add to God’s Word, or they quite simply replace God with idols of materialism and prosperity. Anything which takes the place of God in our lives is an idol. It might be work, education, possessions, family, sport – the list is endless. What do you spend most of your time thinking about and talking about? That is an indication of where your heart lies and what is most important to you.

Isaiah 2:11-22 God will judge the proud and the idolatrous. Pride is something God hates. Pride or haughty eyes is the first thing mentioned in the list of things God hates, Proverbs 6:16-19. The bible has a lot to say about the dangers of pride.

Why not see for yourself by taking a concordance and looking up all those verses that have to do with pride.

What are you proud of and what are you trusting in God or in you self or your possessions?

We each need to choose to learn God’s way and walk in His paths rather than follow pagan practices and worldly pursuits.
