Looking Ahead for Holiday Shopping

We’ve got a huge shopping season coming and there’s going to be lots of toys, games and more that your kids are interested in. I’m going to start a new series here in the Family Fun forum in late September, most likely. Two to three times a week, I’ll be going through catalogs, websites and even stores to look for the latest and greatest in toys, games and more for gift ideas. I’ll review what I can to give you as parents a better idea of what might be good for your kids and what might not. We’ll grade them on educational value, entertainment value and more.

We’ll look at cost of the items and we’ll look at what’s hot and what’s not. Over the last several years, it’s been very retro in the hot toys department with everything from Care Bears to Strawberry Shortcake making a return from our childhoods to decorate our children’s fantasies.

Books, Games and More

We will talk about creative gifts that your kids or you can make together or separately. We’ll look at gift ideas that include books, so there will be book reviews and we’ll talk about the different games from the standards such as Monopoly and Scrabble to the latest Clifford Learning Interactive Experience and the Barbie games that come with many of the movies.

We’ll touch briefly on kids DVDs, but for the most part we’ll leave those to the Media blog and their Media reviews. Hopefully you’ll find something that sparks and idea or more. Holidays are all about the families and having fun with your family. Hopefully I can do a little bit to help you out and I’ll be looking forward to hearing your ideas too!

Have a great rest of your day!
