Looking For Opportunities

I recently heard a lesson over looking for opportunities: opportunities to share God and the plan of salvation with others. In several blogs I have written lately, I have mentioned that opportunities to shine as a light and share God with others often come simply because Christians stand out in the world. Christians not only need to take advantage of these opportunities, but also seek out new occasions to share God with others. This blog will be the first in a series I want to write about the opportunities that Christians have to share the gospel of Christ.

Everyone needs to hear about the good news of Christ and God’s plan of salvation for man. In fact, Christians are commanded to share the good news with others. In Matthew 28:19-20 the Bible states: “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” Christians can show their love to others by sharing God’s Word with them.

Sharing God with Others

Family. Although one might be a Christian because their family shared the good news with them, it is unlikely that all members of one’s family are Christians.

Friends. For me personally, friends are sometimes the easiest people to talk to about the Lord and sometimes the hardest people to talk to about the Lord. Sometimes I really struggle with exactly what to say to the people I know the best other than my family. Christians need to have the courage to talk to everyone about the Lord.

Co-Workers. One of the best ways to bring up opportunities to share God with one’s co-workers is to be a good, productive, and honest employee. Christians should have a different attitude towards work than the world.

The lady at the grocery store and the man on the plane. One can never know who they will come into contact with or what type of conversation might ensue. The perfect time to share God’s Word might come up at the grocery store or on a plane with a complete stranger.

People online. One of the reasons I really enjoy the internet is the fact that I can talk to people all across the world. There have been many different times that I have been able to ‘chat’ or ‘post’ about God and the Bible through the internet. One can most certainly use the internet to make contact with people they would not come across otherwise.
