Make Extra Money Fast

frugal living, extra cash, money makingMaking some extra cash is easy once you know how to do it. Although there aren’t any wrong ways to do it, there are certain ways that can make obtaining the cold hard cash a little quicker.

Everything consists of selling items, and all can be done almost anywhere you may reside. There are some towns that will have these places more plentiful than others, and there are some area’s where some of the places are more obscure.

Used Book Stores

Used book stores are a great place to get rid of all of those books you might have collecting dust in your basement or on a bookshelf that you don’t get a chance to read anymore. If you’ve read the book more than twice and don’t foresee yourself reading it again, think about getting rid of it. You can usually get some cash for selling the books, or you can trade it in for store credit which is usually a larger sum of money.

Used Video Game Stores

Have some extra computer software or XBOX and Play Station games that you don’t use anymore? Sell them! All those tiny cartridges are worth money. If you’ve beaten the game, or you didn’t like the game to begin with, turn it in for some cash or store credit.

Consignment Shops

These are wonderful little places. You can usually sell clothing, furniture and accessories at these shops. Look in the yellow pages under Consignment. They typically will buy the stuff from you right away, but some will require you to leave your items and come back for payment after they have sold. Check into which way the one you choose works. You might walk away with a nice pocket of cash.

Used Music Stores

You can sell records, tapes and CD’s here. Sometimes you can even sell movies and DVD’s. You can get top dollar for the more popular titles and releases. The newer and very old movies tend to net the most. Again, you can opt for store credit instead of the cash if you’d like.

Garage Sale

Hold a garage sale. You don’t have to do much to have a garage sale. Even a small amount can net you some cash the day of the sale. I’ve thrown together a garage sale the night before with only about 30 items total and made almost $100. Keep in mind that clothing and children’s items are very popular at garage sales. These will bring you the most customers even if you don’t advertise. Think drive by!

Pawn Shop/ jewelry Store

You can typically sell old jewelry at pawn shops and jewelry stores. You won’t get what they are worth, but if you need some cash fast, this can be a great way to go about it. Plus typically at a pawn shop you have the option of eventually buying the item back when you have the money. Electronics, movies, instruments and music and other items like that sell really well at a pawn shop as well.

These are just a few ways to grab some quick cash. You can also revert back to childhood and hold the old fashioned lemonade stand, but I don’t recommend it as a way to get very much cash! 🙂
