So many times I hear would be scrapbookers and even those that have been scrapbooking for awhile, say they do not seem to find time to do something they love. Scrapbooking is a creative outlet for most and has additional benefits in that you are also preserving memories.
It is important to make times for the things that you love. Everyone deserves a little “me” time and if you want those few special moments to include your favorite creative hobby – scrapbooking, then you must work on making the time for it.
Here are a few methods for allowing yourself more time to scrapbook, making it easier.
Get Organized – Organizing your photographs and supplies is the quickest way to find more time to scrapbook. This method has been preached over and over again, but it is the surest method to maximize your time.
Don’t Put It Away – If you are in the middle of a page, don’t put it away when your time is over unless you absolutely have to. If you leave all of your supplies and the page exactly where they are, they are ready and waiting for your to steal a few more minutes of time here and there. Obviously this isn’t easy to do if you don’t have a designated scrap room or area.
Spend Less Time – Spending less time per page is not going to diminish the quality or the creativity of your scrapbook layouts. But can you really afford to spend several hours per page? How will you ever get caught up or complete? Spend less time obsessing about what goes where and what looks good, and more time actually getting the page completed.
Involve Your Family – Yes I am even referring to children. Have older children help with using a cutter to trim photographs or page pieces. Have younger children peel the blue tabs off the back of adhesive squares, or color items to be used on pages about themselves. If a child is old enough to write, have them do the journaling on pages that have to do with them. Let go of the perfectionist attitude. The children will enjoy seeing their own creations in their albums as much as you in years to come.
