Mamma’s on a Diet: Week 3 Weigh In

So here we are, 3 weeks into my diet – or weight loss program as they seem to want to call it these days, different name, same uphill struggle – and it’s time for another weigh-in report. It’s quite funny really, now I have this accountability for my efforts, I’m scared to get on the scales in case I have to report that I’ve gained a pound or two! At one time I just had to battle with the non-logic of comfort eating to compensate for a bad scale day, now I’m more concerned with the embarrassment of feeling as if I’ve failed should the scales give the wrong answers! Still, I guess that’s better than eating chocolate right? Embarrassment contains no calories or saturated fat!

I was apprehensive getting on the scales this morning. I’d had a little cheat a couple of days ago and my weight didn’t seem to have dropped by much from last week and so I didn’t know what to expect at my “official” weekly weigh-in today. Just goes to show how much weight can vary from day to day, and why you should listen to the experts who tell you to only weigh yourself once a week because I’m another 2kg lighter – that’s about 4.4 lb!

The slight scare midweek was a bit of a wake-up call though. Last weekend I ate a normal sized bar of chocolate because I had enough points to allow for this. I know better than to eat normal sized candy bars on a diet, but it was so tempting and I’m so weak! Bad Katie-Anne! The positive side of this experience is that I’ll stick to my treat sized chocolate rewards, and then even if I do have a bad scale day on weigh-in day, at least I know it wasn’t because of reckless eating!
