Okay, I’ll admit that I probably eat more jerky than dh, but he liked the title. We like jerky for a snack because one or two pieces satisfies. They’re also good for hiking, Boy Scout activities, or to keep in the car. So I’m excited about Oberto’s clearance sale. They’re closing out a lot of their jerky and meat sticks. Personally, I wouldn’t eat the meat sticks, but my teenaged boys can’t get enough of them.
Some examples are the three-pack original for $7.99. I was at my grocer earlier today and a single pack was on sale for $5.99. For us, the best deal is the beef jerky ends – three pounds for $15. Pounds. Most jerky comes in 4 oz or 8 oz packages. For that price, it doesn’t matter to me that it’s pieces and ends. Nobody puts a whole slice of beef jerky in their mouth at once anyway – at least I hope they don’t!
For a dollar, you can get cheese stick ends. A dollar. It’s pasteurized cheese food, similar to what many people buy for sandwiches. Pasteurized and vacuum-packed cheese keeps for a long while, so it’s good for your car emergency kit. Same with the jerky.
There is a $6.50 shipping charge (unless you register and buy $75 worth, then it’s free). Make sure and add that in to your calculations. Even if I only bought the three-pound pack above, I’m still ahead of the game.
If you don’t eat jerky yourself, would you consider sending some to the troops overseas? It seems to be their number one request in terms of snack food. At these prices, you can afford to do so. The turkey jerky is only $1.49 per 8 oz. pack. For $20, you can ship eight packs (including shipping) to a servicemember who would greatly appreciate it! See the post about AnySoldier. The nice thing is that you can choose the servicemember. We’ve been sending to Marines because the Corps is so much apart of our family heritage, even though dh is retired Navy. The servicemembers have their own pages where you can read all about them.
