Media Week in Review: December 31st-January 5th

Did you miss out on joining us during the last busy day of the year? Catching up from the holiday chaos? Let’s take a look at what you might have missed.

Tristi took a look at “Amazon’s Bestselling Books for December,” and then talked a bit about “Book Clubs” and why you might want to join one in your area. Then we read a review on “The Frog Princess,” about a princess who kisses a frog and turns into a frog herself.

Then we talked a little more about book clubs and what might take place at “Your Book Club Meeting.” We also took a look back at the year in “Tristi’s Picks: Best Novels Read in 2007” to see what books Tristi particularly enjoyed reviewing. “The Spring Cleaning Murders” will definitely be a candidate for next year’s list – this fun mystery had everyone guessing.

Author Amanda Young paid us a visit to share her experiences with overcoming abuse and her new book, “Silent Prisoner.” You can read part one of her interview here and part two here.

Have you ever wondered what your toys do when you’re not home? This question is explored in the children’s book, “What Does My Teddy Bear Do All Day?”

Take your intermediate reader on a flight to the world of fantasy on the back of a dragon in “The Wizard’s Apprentice,” a fun read for your 8-11 year old. And for the moms – “Sticks and Scones” by author Diane Mott Davidson should do the trick.

The Victory Garden” tells us the story of a girl who gets her school friends together to help her save a neighbor’s garden, circa World War II, and Lauri shows us “The Intellectual Devotional,” a book you read daily which teaches you history facts and other tidbits to educate you and keep your mind growing.

We hope you’ll be able to join us next week here in Media Reviews!
