Meet a Families.com Blogger – Kori Rodley Irons!

koriToday I am joined by one of our most prolific bloggers here on Families.com, Kori Rodley Irons. Kori, thanks for visiting with me today. How long have you blogged for Families.com?

Since December of 2006, 1 year and 3 months, I suppose.

What topics do you blog about?

Parenting, Single Parenting and Home Business.

What is your favorite thing about blogging for Families.com?

I enjoy the discussions and comments, and the fact that we touch on so many different subjects and interests here.

What do you like to do when you’re not blogging?

I work a lot! When I am not blogging, I am either doing other writing work, working at my job as an international conference coordinator, or spending time with my kids and friends. My life is incredibly full (although not terribly diverse) and I am NEVER bored! I love plays, other performances and movies, as well as sporting events and the roller derby! I collect art, so I like to peruse galleries, shows, and openings too. I read whenever I can and tend to have a half dozen books going at any one time.

I hear you on the book thing! Is there anything in particular you would like our readers to know about you?

I am definitely not the sort of person who ever imagined herself writing
parenting blogs and articles! In many ways, I’m just not the “traditional” sort of mom and I have really carved out my own version of family life. Since I am completely independent and self-supporting, I have grown used to doing things my way and enjoying both all of the responsibility for a family and stumbling around trying to find answers on my own– so I am often just sharing my own take on things, knowing full well that there are various other opinions as well. Since there are huge swaths of my life and personality that never make it into my blogging work, my kids refer to the “mom” in the blogs as “Blogger Mom”–she shares some quirks, traits, and experiences with me–but she is definitely a more patient, wiser, and tamed down version of the forty-something gal I really am.

I wonder how I could get a wiser version of me – I really need one.
