Million Dollar Money Drop

I used to be a game show junkie. I always wanted to be on Wheel of Fortune and thought I’d be good at it. An ex-boyfriend and I went on Shop ‘til you Drop together and won almost everything.

Who Wants to be a Millionaire was the last great game show for me. Regis Philbin was a good host and the game was fun to watch. It was a hard game to play so I didn’t kid myself that I’d be good on it. Lingo was played with a partner and the teams had to build five-letter words. I wanted to go on with my mom because it was right up our alleys.

I love watching Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader because the contestants are usually less than compelling, Jeff Foxworthy is fun, and the kids are great. I never understood Deal or no Deal; it’s boring.

Fox has been advertising its latest big game show, Million Dollar Money Drop, for some time now. I never did tune in, but news about the game has caught a lot of attention. Can you imagine going on a game show, banking a lot of money, and then losing it all because of an error on the show? That is exactly what happened to a competing couple.

The question was what was sold first, the Walkman or Post-It Notes. The couple guessed Post-Its, but the show sided with Walkman. The couple was right, but lost the opportunity at almost $900,000. The show is now admitting its error in research and is offering the couple a chance to play again.

Is that enough? I can’t imagine that much money within my grasp and losing it through no fault of my own. I’d want more from the show than the opportunity to lose the money again on my own.
