Mission Possible: The Current State of Affairs

Let’s take back the weight loss!

Current BMI: 31 Pounds to Go: 55

Yesterday I wrote about my deep concern over the state of weight loss in our culture. It seems like we get so desperate to lose the weight or look a certain way that we’re willing to do crazy things that, if we stopped to think about it, really don’t make sense. It does not make sense to give yourself excessive diarrhea in the name of health. That’s an oxymoron. It does not make sense to eat in such a way as to leave out major food groups from your diet. It does not make sense to spend more money on supplements than you would spend in the produce section of your grocery store.

If you’re tired of starving yourself, spending too much money or even if you just want to lose weight simply–come join me. I’ll let you in on all my little secrets from my visit with the doctor to tips and tricks that I use to lose weight.

I didn’t get this way over night and I won’t lose the weight over night. I got this way by consistently enabling my bad habits. I’ve always had horrible eating habits. But as a younger teen and adult, I exercised. When I lived next to a pool in college I went swimming every day. (That’ll burn some serious calories.) So my bad eating habits went unchecked.

Then, like so many moms, I failed to lose the extra 15 pounds of baby weight. Between the hormones, the lack of sleep, the new mommy schedule, and working part time. . .I just partook of too many Taco Bell meals. I gained (and kept) about an extra 15 pounds per child. I stopped exercising because I was either pregnant or had an infant in tow. And if you’ve read the food blogs, you know I love to cook.

So how do I propose to lose this weight? Using common sense strategies and tips. Make sure to look tomorrow for my guidelines to help you set up your own program that will work for you.
