Mixing Homeschooling with Business

Photobucket Pictures, Images and Photos
Many homeschooling homes are one income families. In today’s economy it is becoming more difficult to sustain a family on one income. It can be challenging, but not impossible, to have two parents working in a homeschool household. Be encouraged if you and your spouse work outside the home, you can homeschool. Yet, many homes are still seeking other options like a home business.

If you are a mom who writes her own unit studies, puts together her own copywork for the kids, specializes in using the crock pot to make it sure your family eats, has to prepare a specialized diet, can easily plan a day, knows how to write transcripts, can organize like there is no tomorrow, or has a skill to teach, you may be able to mix your homeschooling with business.

Homeschooling Businesses

*Write and publishes unit studies or copywork books.

*Write an eBook on recipes, encouragement, planning the year, organization…etc.

*Consults with other homeschoolers on curriculum, transcripts, or portfolios.

*Reviews homeschool portfolios. (must be a certified teacher)

*Teach a class on homeschooling the first year.

*Teach a musical instrument or a skill.

*Teach a subject at a co-op like math, art, literature, foreign language, etc.

*Offers a service to homeschooling families who experience a difficult time or just had a baby by taking over the homeschooling duties of bring meals and perform light cleaning.

*Sell your old curriculum on eBay or Craigslist.

Get creative and involve the kids if possible. Teaching an entrepreneurial spirit is best learned by example. Soon your children will come up with great business ideas to explore on their own. You may find it is a wonderful way to bless your family. I was able to earn enough money to go on a weekend getaway with my husband. It feels great to go on a vacation or pay for curriculum without using the family budget.
