Momma’s on a Diet: Week 5 Weigh-In

I’ve been on this diet for a month now and I have to say that things are ticking along nicely. I don’t really think that things are getting easier though. In fact, I’m starting to create problems for myself when it comes to eating and that’s like seeing red flags lined up along the side of the road. I need to stop and recenter my weight loss balance somewhat. I know that this is a tricky part time of the month with hormones running riot and everything, but I know that once I start giving credibility to these problems and finding “easy” solutions, all of the good work I’ve accomplished in the past few weeks will be lost.

One of the problems this week has been a return to eating late at night. I could justify this – which is what I usually do – and say that there were reasons for it. When you are on a diet you’re supposed to enjoy your meals and eat slowly, well with 2 preschoolers that’s not easy to do and so I’ve been eating once they’ve gone to bed. Not good. Usually I would let this slide, and tell myself, it’s just one thing and let it go. But I know from past experience that if I let this go, then the next problem will be solved with a solution that goes against the diet rules and so the snowball of weight loss disaster will build momentum. I can’t let that happen. This time I’m really determined to stay on the right road, so I’m going to have to find some compromise on the time I eat supper. Wish me luck as I try to find some way of knocking down those red flags and getting back to doing things properly!

Meanwhile, today was scale day, and another 2 pounds have disappeared. That makes 23 pounds in 5 weeks. Go me!
