Monday Layout Challenge – Use an Old Supply

Hope your longer weekend was great and that you got plenty of scrapbooking in. Even if you didn’t, I hope you got a chance to participate in last weeks layout challenge. We are back again for another week, in the Monday Layout Challenge.

Were you able to get your dollar store stuff last weekend? Did you create a cute layout using some new items that would not normally have been used in scrapbooking. I spent $20 at the dollar store getting some non-scrapbook related things and an additional $5 on actual scrapbook supplies. Using a little of almost everything I bought, I created a fun layout that I will share soon. If you are wondering why I don’t always have the layouts to show it is because my scanner is on the fritz and I need to figure out why, but I never take the time to do it. Guess I better get right on that.

So on to today’s challenge:

Your challenge for today and this week is to get creative with old supplies. While I completely understand that some of you might be new to scrapbooking, it is this time to go to your local scrapbook store or somewhere else and try to find some old supplies. Punch art, paper piecing, rulers, borders, shape templates and decorative scissors are all part of a scrapbooking past gone by. (not for me they aren’t but for others they are just not “in” anymore)

Figure out how to use these old tools in some new and creative way. Or you can just use them the way they were intended.

So get started, and if you want to share ahead of time, what did you decide to use? Add your layout to the gallery if you would like, and then let me know in the comments.

Why do I do these challenges:
I am doing the weekly layout challenge for several reasons. One, I want you to get your photographs out of storage devices and onto your layouts, and two I want to help you brainstorm ideas, as well as use up your stash of supplies. If there is something you would like to see or something that you need to work on that I might be able to incorporate into a challenge, let me know.
